This is Boitumelo Masilo, a breast cancer survivor since 2013, now a breast cancer counselor, and the #FaceofBreastCancer.

Boitumelo, 43, travels throughout the region of Sebokeng in the Vaal Triangle to help with early detection of breast cancer.

“It’s tough for women to hear they have breast cancer, they often cry and don’t want to accept it. But I comfort and help them to get through everything,” she says.

Boitumelo is currently undergoing chemotherapy for the third time after cancer has spread to her liver, lungs and bones.

Her advice to people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer is don’t avoid treatment.

“I love my job, because through personal experience, I can share my story with others and educate them even better.”
