At Relate, we believe that changes when a community decides to show up for each other. It's the foundation of our partnership with The Counselling Hub and Wellness Warehouse.
For the second year, we've partnered with Wellness Warehouse to bring our mental health cause bracelet into all their stores across South Africa. At R59.95, every bracelet supports The Counselling Hub to bring affordable professional counselling to the people who need it most.
Wellness Warehouse has long championed feeling better. It's at the heart of everything they do. As Wellness Warehouse's Head of Integrative Partnerships, Olivia Badach, put it: "If we are not reaching the communities who most need support, what are we really doing? Wellbeing is a basic human right that should be available to all."
Our Circle Of Care for Mental Health Month
This Mental Health Month, our partnership with The Counselling Hub came full circle. Their practitioners led an EmotionAid® session right here in our Cape Town office, with our staff and Gogos side by side.
What stayed with us: stress lives in the body. And with the right tools, it can be released, not carried. In one session, we discovered simple, practical ways to slow down, regulate and reconnect. Not through theory, but through accessible techniques anyone can use in everyday life.
The Counselling Hub shows up daily for children, teenagers, families and employees who would otherwise go without. A R50 donation funds one session. Each EmotionAid® session can support up to 50 people, and every 100 bracelets purchased funds a counselling session reaching 26 individuals. One session that could change the direction of someone's day, week, or life.
Fortunately Relate Gogos are supported through their daily attendance at Ikamva Labantu's community-led Seniors Clubs, where they access health screenings, nutritious meals, social connection and essential care. But life carries weight that no programme can fully absorb. There is financial stress, loss, and the daily reality of feeling safe in their communities. Sitting together in that room, learning to care for themselves the way their work cares for others, felt important.
The Community Response That Moved Us
We've watched our community show up beautifully for this cause. Musician Craig Lucas, Ex-Miss South Africa Amy Kleinhans and Neenã Macaïre Bezuidenhout are among the many who've shared their purchases, wearing their support proudly and pulling others into the circle. Every bracelet on every wrist is a small act of solidarity that says: access to mental health matters to us.
