Relate Bracelets joined forces with the Reach for a Dream Foundation, selling more than 4 000 bracelets to raise a total R42 680 in just more than a month for South African children with life-threatening illnesses.
Launched on World Dream Day on 25 September, the initiative by the 100% not-for-profit called on South Africans to show their support by purchasing a bracelet, with all funds raised going to help support children living through very difficult times.
To boost sales of the bracelets, the Reach For A Dream Foundation added a competition open to anyone buying a box of 10 bracelets. All names were automatically entered into a draw and Alicia Tredoux has been named as the lucky winner of a two-night stay for eight people at one of the beautiful Beach House Collection properties in Yzerfontein, worth R13 000.
The two organisations sold a total of 4 268 bracelets to raise a grand total of R42 680.
Relate founder Lauren Gillis says the result was particularly heartwarming given that 2020 has been such an incredibly challenging year on all fronts.
“This initiative reminded us all how important it is for everyone to stand together and fight towards a common goal. By joining hands with the Reach For A Dream Foundation, we were able to raise funds which will make a big difference in the lives of children living with life-threatening illnesses, and we are humbled to be able to play a part in that,” she says.
“We hope this incredible collaboration with the Reach For A Dream Foundation will show all South Africans what we’re capable of when working together as a single unit.”
Julia Sotirianakos, CEO of the Reach For A Dream Foundation, explains that they encourage children to keep their dreams alive as they battle life-threatening illnesses.
“Our job is to make as many of these dreams as possible become a reality, in line with our vision of growing the foundation to continue giving children hope. We thank everyone who bought a bracelet, so helping us to keep hope alive,” she says.
