This year Relate has partnered with the Spur Foundation ahead of Mandela Day, in order to spread Nelson Mandela’s message: “It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.”
Ahead of International Mandela Day 2015 the Spur family of brands, including Panarottis and John Dory’s, are selling Relate Bracelets for R30 in support of the Spur Foundation and its beneficiaries. Launching officially 2 June, the campaign will raise approximately R750, 000 to further support the foundation’s beneficiaries.
Established on International Mandela Day in 2012 the Spur Foundation takes its inspiration from Madiba who dedicated no less than 67 years of his life to social justice and the service of humanity. The foundation aims to uplift and improve the lives of South African families, with a special emphasis on children, in line with its core value of generosity and Ubuntu. Now, around Mandela Day 2015, the Spur Foundation is inviting 67,000 South Africans to join hands and buy a bracelet to raise funds for the nation’s children in need. And Spur itself was founded in 1967, making the concept of ‘67’ core to their message.
This initiative will not be limited to 67 minutes of service in honour of Madiba, but rather honour his vision that every day time should be spent in the service of others. The Spur Foundation provides support for South African families, especially children, every day and in so doing tries to make every day a Mandela Day.
