Next time you're in a Trappers store, look out for a special beaded bracelet made by the Relate Trust.
The trust works in partnership with the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) to aid Conservation in Action. The majority of the revenue derived from sales of the bracelets is donated to EWT, supporting its wild dog, cheetah and birds of prey projects. For example, the initiative has already helped to increase safe habitat for wild dogs in South Africa by 235%.
But the bracelets don't only benefit animals. They also benefit senior citizens who thread them, the young Relate Trust staff who are upskilled in their chosen careers, and various enterprise development initiatives.
"With the help of major retailers like Trappers, Relate has sold more than 2,6 million bracelets for the likes of EWT resulting in close to R50 million raised for charitable causes and job creation," says Tammy Baker, EWT Business Development Officer.
"It is hugely important to protect and preserve all life on this planet, and we aim to do so while creating employment and learning opportunities in the process' adds Neil Robinson, CEO of the Relate Trust.
The bracelets are available from Trappers stores countrywide for R50 or you can purchase them online here.
