The Western Cape’s Smile FM radio personality and national TV presenter Tracey Lange has been wearing the change she wants to see.  Her desire to make a difference is what encouraged her involvement with Relate Bracelets, a 100% not for profit social enterprise that has started a movement to change lives by making bracelets that create opportunities for bracelet-makers and help raise funds for other causes – and she now seeks to spread the word about this very worthy organisation.

In her line of work, Tracey has been able to use her celebrity status to bring light to issues that affect our country, while also making an effort to share her time with causes close to her heart. She wears the bracelets not only as an accessory but also as something she can use to inform people about the plight of others.

She believes that talking changes nothing, but taking action makes a greater impact. “By wearing the change I want to see and making sure people know I’m wearing the change, I’m also putting my money where my mouth is,” she says.

The proceeds of the bracelet sales go towards supporting bracelet-makers through earnings and skills training, investment in enterprise development in South Africa as well as helping causes close to the wearer’s heart, such as helping save endangered wildlife through the Endangered Wildlife Trust, helping support orphans through Ikamva Labantu, or giving the gift of safe drinking water to families that need it through the Rotary Water Project.

“I do like to stack and share! It’s fun being able to wear the bracelets, have people ask me about them and then being able to not only explain what they are about, but also to share them. They make them think about the cause and are also a very subtle and stylish reminder,” says Tracey.
