The Jane Goodall Institute South Africa chimpanzee sanctuary (Chimp Eden) is situated outside Nelspruit and is committed to rescuing and homing traumatized chimpanzees: Orphan survivors of the bush meat trade; the illegal pet trade; circuses; club entertainment; and medical research. The chimps spend their days in semi-wild surroundings - similar to their natural habitat.
